This post is a follow up to "Lesson Summary: The Spanish Empire II." It shows Khan Academy's contradiction.
In the fourth paragraph of the following article the author writes "The first position of the casta series is always a Spanish man and an elite Indigenous woman, accompanied by their offspring: a mestizo, which denotes a person born of these two parents."

In that sentence the author is acknowledging that the first position of the casta series is a mestizo, not a mulato. Therefore the pyramid shown on the following article is incorrect.

Mestizos and Mulatos were not viewed as equals in the social-economic structure. The Mestizo was viewed as higher in the social-economic ladder by virtue of not having African admixture.
