Sitting here in my room watching one of my favorite TV programs, Ancient Aliens.
Outside it's still daytime. I decide to go out and sit on my front porch and reminisce about old times.
I sat there and looked around. Up the street to the park I see a beautiful scene. I reminisce about the times when I would see the low-riders cruising down the street scraping and giving off sparks.
The scene was tranquil and peaceful. But it also looked hazy, slightly foggy. It was the smoke from the northern California fires.
I looked left towards the west. The sun was still well above the horizon. The hazy air gave it an orange-reddish look. I sat there and admired it for a while. At first I couldn't look straight into it for more than a second or two because it was still too bright. But after a few minutes, as it went down into deeper and thicker haze I could look at it directly. It was beautiful. It was red!
I decided to share this with my niece and nephew. I called them and told them to see. They saw and were in awe! My sister came out to see, then my brother-in-law also came out to see. All of us stood there on the porch and admired the beautiful red sun. As it hid behind the hazy cloud of smoke it became visible. Visible as in, we could all look directly at it. By now it was red.
Both my niece and my sister wanted pictures of it. They took out their phones and began to take pictures. Soon I heard their disappointment. The sun was not showing up red. It was showing up white! Both my sister and my niece continued to take pictures. Then I heard my sister say "I got it!" She had gotten a picture of it and it looked red. A minute or two later my niece also took a picture where it came out red.
Here is the sun just before it went behind the rooftop of a house across the street from us.
