As usual, I'm just sitting here watching the news. A story is on about a woman who was left alone to give birth in a cell in Santa Rita Jail. According to the reporter, and the woman's attorney, the woman was initially misdiagnosed as having some type of false labor issues. And when she began to yell some doors were simply closed to muffle her screams. Later she gave birth.
Her attorney said that her client was basically just put away in a concrete box where the deputies didn't have to deal with her and she gave birth.
Hm? Reminds me of my stay in Santa Rita. I remember being put into a holding cell after going to court. Several hours went by before a deputy finally came to my cell and said, "There you are, I've been looking for you. You can go back to your housing unit."
Hm? Where else could I have been? I got put in this place and I've been waiting here patiently to go back to my housing unit. And now, several hours later you found me. I wonder where I could have gone. Lemme see, concrete floor, concrete walls, concrete ceiling, a steel door and absolutely no furniture. I'm still wondering where I could have gone or hid for a deputy to not find me.
But I was eventually found and I went back to my housing unit.
Well, Santa Rita Jail is a place of many rooms, units, and doors. Don't be surprised if you go there, get put away somewhere for safe-keeping, and then be forgotten about or lost. You may have to do some door kicking and screaming for them to find you, that's if they don't close a door to muffle your screams.
But alas, you're not always so fortunate (or unfortunate) to be placed in holing cell by yourself. Most of the time you will have guests. If you wonder what a holding a cell looks like, here's one:
